All in the Name
Bocce has endeared itself (when it wasn’t being
outlawed in Renaissance Italy) to players across the world and through the
ages. It has evolved from being a crude sport played with rounded rocks, wooden
balls and even coconuts, to the modern game with composite or metal balls. And
apparently, wherever it goes, it gets a new name. Aside from the classic “Bocce”
it’s been called Lawn Bowling, Boules, Bowls, Nine Pins, Skittles, Petanque,
and a lot more. As for Beach Bocce Ball, we hope it becomes a classic too – for
the excellent alliteration at least.
